What happens when you leave the country for a decade?
You discover you have no friends/viable social circle left, that's what.
(Or you still have friends, but they're all married & prefer hanging out with other small families ... or even worse, they also left at some point in the last 15 years!!)
Ie - I need some new friends in the Motherland.
Footnote: The site is geared towards dating, hence checking the necessary boxes as per profile requirement/narrowing search criteria, BUT at this point I'm merely looking to meet/get to know new people, male or female, as I'm settling back in/finding my feet, and will take things from there at a later stage.

If your idea of a good time is getting wasted/clubbing 'til 4AM, braaiing every chance you get, shouting at the ref on TV with brandy in hand, you spend half your time in the ocean/on a bike, or every meal is a fast food take away ... I won't cut it as sidekick.
If you however like to wander around slow markets or botanical gardens/forests/parks, are not afraid to try interesting/exotic new eats at quaint little cafes or picnics, find dark theatres (the stage or screen type ;) alluring and rather sip on your drink(s) in the quieter corner of a bar/lounge where you are still able to follow conversations on existentialism, politics or random interesting crap, then we probably have something to work with.
It would also help if you can literally spend all day having a series marathon, watching cricket (TV or Newlands ;) or geeking out with board/card games, crossword puzzles and books. In pajamas.
If your favourite room in the house is the kitchen, well then we're really off to a great start!
And lastly it would be good if you enjoy participating in some form of exercise/sport on a weekly basis at least - I'm a runner, and it's my solo-thinking-unwinding-stress busting time so I don't necessarily want a running buddy, but I appreciate a level of health consciousness/fitness. And in spite of my little rugby jab earlier, I do in fact watch it, along with several other sports.
Edit: FOR THE LOVE OF ALL THINGS HOLY, if you are married/separated/divorced ... I am NOT looking to be a side piece, rebound/fall back/text buddy for when you are feeling bored/need an ego boost, nor am I a rehab centre!
If you have the capacity to slowly make a friend/form a bond/get to know someone that has self respect, standards, boundaries and knows EXACTLY what they bring to the table, and you're willing to build on that, by all means, message if what you read resonates. I however do not care for dodgy-dodgy, wishy-washy people who do not (mostly!) have their sh|t together. Step up or step out.
